goodbye twenty ten

What are your plans tonight to bring in the new year? The hubby and I will kick it off with a Chinese banquet dinner at Koi Palace with my family. After our feast, we will catch the new western film by the Coen brothers called “True Grit” with my cousins and then rush back to our place just in time for some bubbly and the count down…

pom pom and shimmer

Wow, is 2010 really almost over? T-2 days. Where did the past year go?!

Hmm, let’s see…I enjoyed a quick trip to Taipei and Hong Kong with my mom in February — right before I started my new job at a cool startup called Zendesk in March, Mike and I took a road trip to Palm Springs to visit some of our most fabulous friends (oh how we love Pioneertown and Rock Reach house) and then continued on to the OC to see the in-laws over Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in the lovely and kitschy Marfa, TX (thanks to our dear friends k+K for introducing this gem to us!), we bought a new home in a SF neighborhood that I had only dreamed of living in (but now a dream come true!), we made another trip to Paris right before my 35th birthday (!) and rode around the Marais in our Vespas, we drove down to the OC to spend a non-turkey Thanksgiving with the in-laws and most recently we shared our first Christmas as a married couple in our new place (which also included a weekend trip to Las Vegas with my folks!). We are truly blessed and couldn’t be happier!

So, I decided to wear something shimmery and bright today…yes, that means some sequin!

What I wore today:

Why I love it:

  • comfort! we’ve all heard about jeggings (jeans + leggings) but how about denim sweatpants?! love it!
  • some sparkly sequin peeking through my jacket
  • yes, that’s a fur pom pom on my head🙂

lumberjack chic

Today is Wednesday. That means it’s dinner at Happy Cafe tonight! Yes, the hubby and I made the trek down to San Mateo and ventured outside the city for a meal that’s worth every mile. I look forward to these weekly trips because it also means I get to see my folks — they meet us there since the restaurant is about half way between us and where my parents live (ok maybe a tad closer to where we live but close enough!).

It’s been rainy and windy for the past 2 days in SF so I made sure to bundle up and ordered my favorite Chinese spinach with pork won ton soup. Yummy!

What I wore today:

Why I love it:

  • lumberjack chic mixed with a luxuriously tantalizing fur collar!
  • “moccasin soul” for a casual and relaxed way of life
  • accessories make the outfit – fur, fringe, flannel and fabric (print bag)

introducing project daily happy chic

Darlings,

The hubby has suggested many times that I should start a blog. But about what? Those that know me, know that I love to shop — online, in person and preferably alone. So today I’ve decided to start documenting my daily wardrobe as a result of shopping for the perfect pieces of clothing, shoes and accessories. I hope you will enjoy my fashion journey!

The Project: Shopaholic seeks to share her daily happy chic outfits.

The Players: Helen Yu Kuo and her closet. A foodie, francophile and jetsetter extraordinaire with a penchant for jumping, a fondness for Marfa, a love of Isabel Marant, Phillip Lim, rose macarons and deadpanning. And Happy Cafe!

My Style: The perfect mix of uptown ladylike with casual downtown cool. I am champagne and lollypops. Cashmere and cupcakes. Sophisticated and sweet. Trend savvy but timeless.
